About Pages Files
Pages is Apple's word processor for Mac, iPhone and iPad, and .pages is its native format. A Pages file is a package that holds the text, layout and images, plus a preview image. Pages is free on Apple devices, but Windows and Android have no Pages app, so people outside the Apple world often can't open these files directly. The simplest fix is to ask the sender to export a Word or PDF file from Pages.
How to Open a Pages File
- Mac
- Double-click to open it in Pages.
- iPhone & iPad
- Open it in the Pages app.
- Windows & Android
- Open it in Pages at icloud.com with a free Apple Account, then download it as Word or PDF.
