About Find Duplicate Files
Photo libraries, downloads folders and backups fill up with copies: the same picture saved twice, documents downloaded again as "(1)", or files copied between folders. Drop a folder, or choose one, and this tool compares every file by its contents using SHA-256 fingerprints, so copies are found even when their names differ. You get groups of identical files with their folder paths, how much space the extra copies take, and a CSV list to work from. Nothing is deleted or moved: you decide what to remove.
How to Use It

Add a folder
Drop a folder onto the box, or press choose a folder. Subfolders are included.

Press Find Duplicates. Files of the same size are fingerprinted and compared.

See each group of identical files and the space you could free, or download the list as CSV.
Questions
Does it find similar photos?
No. It finds exact duplicates, files with identical contents. Resized or edited versions of a photo are different files.
Will it delete anything?
No. Browsers can't delete files on your computer, and this tool only shows you the duplicates.
How does it work so fast?
Only files with exactly the same size can be duplicates, so it fingerprints just those, not every file.
System files such as .DS_Store, Thumbs.db and other hidden files are skipped.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files are read and compared in your browser.
