About WebP to PNG
WebP and PNG both support transparency, which makes PNG the natural choice when you need a logo, icon or cut-out graphic from a WebP file in a program that doesn't read WebP. The converter decodes each image and writes a lossless PNG, keeping transparent areas transparent. You can also limit the width or height to get smaller files for slides or documents. PNG opens in every image editor, office app and design tool, which makes it the safe choice for logos, icons, stickers and screenshots saved from websites. Convert a batch and download it as one ZIP.

What is a WebP file?
WebP is an image format created by Google to make web pages load faster. It compresses photos and graphics better than JPG and PNG, supports transparency like PNG, and can even hold animations like GIF. Most big websites now serve WebP, which is why an image you save from a browser often ends up as a .webp file even when the page looked like it showed a JPG or PNG. Read more in the WebP format guide.
Browsers handle WebP well, but many other programs don't: older versions of Photoshop and Microsoft Office, some photo viewers, print services and online forms still won't open it.
Why convert WebP to PNG?
PNG is the right target when the image has transparency or sharp edges. Logos, icons, stickers, product cut-outs and screenshots keep their transparent background and crisp text as PNG, and PNG opens in every editor, office app and design tool. PNG is also lossless, so you can edit and re-save the image as often as you like without it degrading.
If the image is a photo and you just want it to open everywhere and stay small, WebP to JPG is usually the better choice.
What to expect from the result
The PNG keeps every pixel of the WebP, including transparent areas, so it looks exactly the same. It will usually be larger, often two to five times, because PNG uses lossless compression and WebP's efficient compression is what made the original small. For logos and graphics that's rarely a problem; for large photos it can mean several megabytes per file.
If the PNG is bigger than you'd like, limit the width or height when converting, or shrink it afterwards with the PNG compressor, which reduces colours while keeping transparency.
Animated WebP files
Animated WebPs are converted to a still PNG of the first frame. If you need the animation itself, keep the WebP or convert it to a GIF with a dedicated animation tool. For everything else, from saved web images to stickers and product photos, converting a whole batch to PNG takes a few seconds, and you can download the results together as a ZIP.
Converting WebP on Windows, Mac and phones
Windows Photos and the macOS Preview app can open WebP files on recent systems, but getting a PNG out of them takes several clicks per image, and older versions can't open WebP at all. This converter works the same everywhere: drop a batch of WebP files, convert them, and download all the PNGs in one ZIP.
It works on iPhone, iPad and Android too. Tap the box to pick WebP images from Files or Downloads, convert them and save the PNGs to your device, ready to use in any app that won't accept WebP. Image names are kept, with only the extension changed, so you can tell your files apart.
Questions
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. PNG supports an alpha channel, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels stay as they were in the WebP.
Why would I pick PNG over JPG?
Pick PNG for graphics, screenshots, logos and anything with transparency or sharp edges. Pick JPG for photos where a smaller file matters more than lossless detail.
Are animated WebP images supported?
The first frame is converted to a still PNG. Animation is not carried over.
Does this work without an internet connection?
Yes, after your first visit. The site stores its pages on your device, and the converter works entirely offline because no step involves a server.
