About Blank CSV File
CSV templates are everywhere: contact imports, product uploads, bank and accounting tools. This generator makes an empty CSV file, or a template that contains only a header row with the column names you type. Choose a comma, semicolon or tab as the delimiter, since spreadsheet apps in many European countries expect semicolons. Turn on the UTF-8 BOM option if you will open the file in Excel and your columns contain accented letters or other non-English characters. The CSV is created and downloaded directly.
How to Use It
- 01
Type column names
Optionally enter a header row, such as name, email, phone. Leave empty for a 0-byte file.
- 02
Pick a delimiter
Comma is standard. Use semicolon for European Excel, or tab for TSV-style files.
- 03
Create and download
Press Create CSV and download your template.
Questions
How do I separate the column names?
Type them separated by commas, semicolons or tabs. The file uses whichever delimiter you choose in the options, and names containing the delimiter are quoted.
Why do accents look wrong when I open a CSV in Excel?
Excel often assumes an old encoding unless the file starts with a BOM. Turn on the BOM option and accents display correctly.
Does the header row end with a line break?
Yes. It ends with a Windows-style line break, so the first data row you add starts on its own line.
Can I convert CSV to JSON here?
Yes. Use the CSV to JSON converter to turn a filled-in CSV into JSON in your browser.
