About Blank JSON File
Developers often need an empty JSON file as a starting config, a test fixture, or a placeholder that a build step expects to exist. An empty object or array is safer than a truly empty file, because a zero-byte file is not valid JSON and many parsers reject it. This tool lets you choose: an empty object, an empty array, the value null, or a zero-byte file if that is exactly what you are testing. Each valid option ends with a newline, as most code editors prefer.

Questions
Is a 0-byte .json file valid JSON?
No. JSON needs at least one value, so parsers such as JSON.parse throw an error on an empty file. Choose {} or [] if the file must parse.
Should I choose an object or an array?
Use an object {} for settings and records with named fields, and an array [] for lists of items.
Can I format or validate JSON here?
Yes. The JSON Formatter tool pretty-prints, minifies and validates JSON in your browser.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The file is created in your browser and downloaded directly.
