About Base64 Encode & Decode
Base64 turns any data into plain letters and digits so it can travel through email, JSON, URLs and config files. Type or paste text to encode it, or open any file, such as an image or a PDF, to get its Base64. Switch to Decode to turn Base64 back into text; if the result is a file rather than text, the tool recognises its type and lets you download it. Accents, emoji and every other character are handled as UTF-8. A URL-safe option and MIME line wrapping are included.

Questions
Is Base64 encryption?
No. It is an encoding that anyone can reverse. Never use it to protect passwords or private data.
What is URL-safe Base64?
A variant that uses - and _ instead of + and / and drops the = padding, so it can go in URLs and file names. Decoding accepts both forms.
Can I decode Base64 that starts with data:image/png;base64?
Yes. The data: prefix is removed automatically, and the decoded image can be downloaded.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Encoding and decoding happen in your browser.
