About JPEG Compressor
Photos straight from a phone or camera are often several megabytes, far more than an email, online form or website needs. This tool re-encodes JPG and JPEG files with a quality slider, so you decide how much detail to trade for size. Need a file under a specific limit, such as 200 KB for an application portal? Enter a target size and the compressor searches for the highest quality that fits. Combining compression with a smaller maximum width usually gives the biggest savings. Photos are rotated upright and their location data is removed.

Questions
What quality should I pick?
75% is a sensible default for sharing. 60% is fine for small previews and web forms. Above 90% the file grows quickly for little visible gain.
Can I compress a photo to an exact size?
You can set a maximum. The result will be at or below your target, usually within a few percent of it, at the best quality that fits.
Does compressing a JPG again lose quality?
Yes, each JPEG re-encode loses a little detail. Compress from the original photo rather than from an already compressed copy.
What happens to EXIF data?
The orientation is applied to the pixels, and the rest of the EXIF data, including GPS location, is removed from the compressed file.
