About Compare Two Files
Two files can share a name and size and still differ, for example two copies of a backup, two downloads of an installer, or a document before and after it was sent. This tool compares any two files byte by byte and gives a clear answer: identical or different. When they differ, it shows the position of the first differing byte and how many bytes differ, along with the SHA-256 checksum of each file. It works with any file type, including photos, videos and archives.

Questions
Does it compare the content or just the name?
The content. Every byte is compared, so files with different names but the same content count as identical.
Can it show the differences between two text documents?
This tool answers whether the files are identical. To see line-by-line changes in text, use the Text Diff tool.
Why do two copies of the same photo differ?
Apps often change metadata, such as dates or edit history, when saving or sharing, even if the picture looks the same.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The comparison runs in your browser.
