About OPUS to MP3

Opus is a modern audio codec that sounds good at low bitrates, which is why messaging apps and voice recorders often use it. Exported voice messages, for instance, frequently arrive as .opus files that many media players, editors and transcription tools won't open. This converter decodes the Opus audio with your browser's own decoder and saves an MP3 you can play almost anywhere. Mono output at a modest bitrate keeps voice notes tiny. Several files can be converted together and downloaded as one ZIP.

How to Use It

  1. 01

    Add .opus files

Drop the recordings into the box, or tap to pick them.

  2. 02

    Choose output

Mono at 96-128 kbps is ideal for voice. Use stereo and a higher bitrate for music.

  3. 03

    Download MP3s

Press Convert, then save each file or the whole batch as a ZIP.

Questions

Why is the MP3 bigger than the Opus file?

Opus is very efficient at low bitrates, so a voice note may be encoded at a rate MP3 can't match with the same clarity. Choosing mono and 96 kbps keeps the MP3 reasonably small.

Are voice messages kept private?

Yes. The audio is decoded and encoded inside your browser, and the page cannot send it anywhere. No copy is stored by this site.

Some files won't convert. What should I try?

Support for Opus decoding varies between browsers. If you see an error, try the latest Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer.

Can I convert many voice notes at once?

Yes. Add them all, press Convert, and use Download all to get one ZIP containing every MP3.
