About WOFF2 Files
WOFF2 is the current standard for web fonts. It uses Brotli compression, making font files around 30 percent smaller than WOFF and much smaller than TTF, so pages load faster. All current browsers support it. Google Fonts and most font services deliver WOFF2. Like WOFF, it's intended for websites rather than installing on a computer.
How to Open a WOFF2 File
- Any device
- Use it in CSS with @font-face and format('woff2').
- Windows & Mac
- Convert it to TTF with FontForge or a WOFF2 decompressor to install it.
WOFF2 File Questions
How do I convert TTF to WOFF2?
Use Google's woff2_compress command-line tool, FontForge, or a font converter you trust.
Why is my WOFF2 font not loading?
Check the URL and that your server sends it with the font/woff2 type. Fonts from another domain also need CORS headers.
