About OTF Files
OpenType extends TrueType with support for thousands of characters, many languages and advanced typography such as ligatures, small capitals, alternate letters and old-style numbers. An OTF file can contain either TrueType outlines or PostScript (CFF) outlines. Most professional fonts are sold as OTF. Like TTF, it works on every modern operating system.
How to Open an OTF File
- Windows

OTF File Questions

OTF can include more typographic features, but if both files come from the same font family, they usually look the same.
Can I use OTF fonts in Word?
Yes. Install the font and it appears in Word's font list.
