About TTF Files
TrueType is the most common font format. A TTF file contains the outlines of every character, plus hinting instructions that keep text crisp at small sizes on screen. Apple developed it, Microsoft adopted it, and every operating system supports it. Fonts you download from sites such as Google Fonts usually come as TTF files. Installing one makes it available in all your apps.
How to Open a TTF File

- Mac

- Linux
- Copy it to ~/.local/share/fonts and run fc-cache.
TTF File Questions
TTF or OTF
If both are offered, choose OTF for print and design work, as it may include extra typographic features. For everyday use either works.
How do I use a TTF on a website?
Convert it to WOFF2, which is much smaller, and load it with @font-face. Check the font's licence allows web use.
