About TIFF Files
TIFF is a flexible format favoured by photographers, publishers, scanners and archives. It can store images without any loss, at high bit depths, in CMYK for print, with layers, and even with several pages in one file, which is why fax software and document scanners often produce TIFFs. That flexibility means files are large and not every app supports every variant. Web browsers, except Safari, don't display TIFF images, so converting to JPG or PNG is the usual way to share them.
How to Open a TIFF File

TIFF File Questions
What's the difference between .tif and .tiff?
None. They are the same format. The three-letter .tif comes from old systems that limited extensions to three characters.
Why won't my TIFF open in Chrome?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox don't support TIFF. Open it in Photos or Preview, or convert it to JPG or PNG.
