About WPD Files
WPD is the format of WordPerfect, a word processor that dominated offices in the 1980s and early 1990s before Microsoft Word took over. WordPerfect is still sold by Corel and remains popular in some law firms and government offices, so WPD files still turn up, especially in legal archives. LibreOffice Writer imports WPD files well, and Word can open many of them too.
How to Open a WPD File
- Windows
- Open it in Corel WordPerfect, LibreOffice Writer or Microsoft Word.
- Mac & Linux
- Open it in LibreOffice Writer.
WPD File Questions
Can Word open WPD files?
Word can open many WordPerfect documents directly. If it can't, LibreOffice Writer usually can, and can then save them as DOCX.
Is WordPerfect still used?
