About CBZ Files
A CBZ file is simply a ZIP archive of image files, usually JPG or PNG, one per page, named so they sort in reading order. Comic reader apps open it like a book and show the pages one after another. Because it's an ordinary ZIP, you can rename a copy to .zip and extract the images with any unzip tool. The related CBR format uses RAR compression instead.
How to Open a CBZ File
- Windows
- Use a comic reader such as CDisplayEx, YACReader or SumatraPDF.
- Mac
- Use YACReader or Simple Comic.
- iPhone & Android
- Use Chunky, Panels or CDisplayEx.
- Any device
- Extract the images with an unzip tool to view them as normal pictures.
CBZ File Questions
How do I make a CBZ file?
Put the page images in order, zip them, and rename the .zip file to .cbz. The Zip Files tool on this site creates the ZIP.
Can I extract pages from a CBZ?
Yes. It's a ZIP archive, so the Unzip Files tool here extracts the images directly.
