About RPM Files
RPM is the package format used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora, CentOS Stream, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux and openSUSE. Like DEB, it contains a program's files, scripts and a list of dependencies. Package managers such as dnf and zypper install RPMs from repositories or downloaded files. RPM files can be signed so the system can verify where they came from.
How to Open an RPM File
- Fedora & Red Hat
- Run sudo dnf install ./file.rpm.
- openSUSE
- Run sudo zypper install ./file.rpm.
